Hope changes everything

After fighting our way into Düsseldorf through the Karneval kaos*, we arrived only slightly late for a joint luncheon between the American Women's Club and the British Women's Club. The presentation following lunch concerned the refugee situation - the numbers actually arriving here, who they are and why they came, and importantly how we can help.

It was funny to note that both the Brits on our table are members of the American Women's Club - I like to joke that we're infiltrating, very slowly and what better place to facilitate this from than by being responsible for membership?!

* 11.11 is a thoughtful day for the Brits, but for the areas of Germany where Karneval is a big thing it's the start of the krazy, the day to keep well out of the Altstadt.
