Nature Reserve management

Our small band of volunteers had spent the day dodging thunder and lightning, flooded tracks and fields and rain in stair-rods. We did what we could, then decided to finish a bit early. On the walk back to the car the sun made a brief appearance and so did these longhorns.

They are part of the Trust's herd of Longhorn cattle which are distributed around the various nature reserves to spend their summers helping with grassland management.

Both the cattle and the photographer were looking decidedly bedraggled.

(Well, it could have been a picture of rain or people ankle deep in water).
