Fungus Fursdy

Here is one quadrant of our Fairy Ring.

The mushrooms come up and in good years form a complete circle some 25 feet in diameter. This is just one quadrant. Others are through on the opposite side but it is not easy to get a good photograph. It may be that in the next few days others will emerge to make the circle complete.

Each year the ring becomes a little larger as the underground mycelium grows only outwards. The reason for this are a little complex but can be followed up on Wikipedia.

Of course if you go there in the middle of the night you made find fairies having a party within the circle.
