Window to another world

At lunch today I sat with two elderly ladies, one from China and one Spanish speaking. They both work in the factory where I work as an engineer.
It was interesting and refreshing talking to these two, although one seemed rather shy.
I thought to myself, I bet they don't even know that I am an engineer. When they were younger that position was usually occupied by a man.
Did I tell them, no. I enjoyed being one of them, I feared they would become reserved had they found out.
