Peace on Earth

I don't know who wrote this, but in the aftermath of last night's horror in Paris ( and, more quietly, in so many other places) it seems appropriate.

A man was asked by a Rabbi when you knew it was not night.
'Is it when you can see an animal in the distance and know if it is a sheep or a goat?'
'No' said the Rabbi.
'Well, is it when you can see a tree in the distance and know if it is a fig or an olive tree?'
'No,' said the Rabbi, 'it is when you can look on the face of any man and know that he is your brother. Until then it is still night'
