Hey Teacher, leave them kids alone

I love this Pink Floyd song. I remember dancing and singing to it at the disco following our valedictory dinner. There were a hundred or so newly qualified teachers all embarking on new careers singing these lyrics at the tops of our voices. Maybe the song helped to make us all the kind of teachers who didn’t practise “thought control”. I continually encouraged all my students to believe that anything was possible and that being different was a thing to be cherished.

I did a little calculation this morning. During my teaching career I taught approximately 182 400 children.

That’s a lot of bricks in a lot of walls!!!!! 

I like to believe they’re out there somewhere making the world a better place.
