A handy way to use up bananas - when it works!

Tried to make banana and blueberry cupcakes yesterday, proved to be a disaster. Suspect the problem stemmed from using wildly out of date baking powder, but also mistrust the silicon cases which never seem to work in our gas oven.

Bought new baking powder today, switched to a banana loaf in a proper loaf tin - success! Well, it looks good and cooked in the expected time. Final proof will be in the eating, methinks.
