So yesterday I cleared out a bag of fossils that has lain dormant since my last trip and I found this little Victorian silver spoon. Lyme Regis had a large landslip in 2008 and despite a furry of excitement by palaeontologists, nothing fancy was revealed except an old Victorian landfill. This spoon must have been cliff-bound for quite a while!
It was grey, grotty and covered in dirt and clay, but I gave it a little polish (an hour and counting) and it's coming up a treat. In fact, the clean up has unearthed the engraved initials "McN", which I found very exciting! Yesska was not best pleased with my rock-shifting at 6am on a Sunday but it was totally worth it :)
I feel so Uri Geller.
