Apple Thief

Blackbird, Turdis merula.

The bellbird was scolding loudly, similar to a blackbird, but with a deeper voice. I went to a window to see what the matter was, afraid that my cat was pestering her. But a blackbird was eating the apple and he looked defiant. I grabbed my camera and caught him just as he was having doubts. She kept up her scolding as she advanced on him. At three metres he suddenly departed.

Since I took this through a window the quality is not great, but I like the herringbone pattern on his breast, the shadow of his claw, and the flecks of forbidden fruit on his beak.
