The miner

This image was designed by the artist Jan Hooreman Hague (1917-1984).
The exemplary dwerd in 1952 on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the State Mines by inmates from the National Work arrangement offered to the management of the State Mines and got a place in the wage hall of the Emma Mine.

In connection with the mine closure the statue was removed and placed in trust by then he Industrion, Museum for Industry and Society, now Continium Discovery Center.

On the occasion of the renovation of the Carboonplein Continium Discovery Cengter offered the statue to the community of Kerkrade on loan.
The image is used to thoroughly restored and is since October 10, 2010 at this location.
