Gillipaw's Journal

Takoyaki Game

The Japanese class today was all about food.  We watched several interesting, mouthwatering videos.  Lots of new words added to my vocabulary.

Takoyaki  - Japanese Octopus balls, very popular in Osaka.  This video here shows how quickly the chefs turn them.  I would quite like to try tasting some.   We had a special pan, with cotton wool balls and had cocktail sticks to turn them.  Everyone had a go, the fastest was 15 seconds.

This evening, I was at an excellent talk about the Turner Prize.  The Tramway on southside of Glasgow is currently exhibiting work by the four finalists.  The winner will be announced on 7 December.  Very interesting to learn about the each of the artists and what lies behind their exhibits.  I must get along to see the show.
