Our second new lake.

I blipped our first new lake a couple of days ago. But if we are to emulate the Lake District and apply for World Heritage Status then we need more than one. This one is north of the railway embankment and I am naming it Arnside Mere. On the right you can see the mound of Arnside Knott and in the centre you can discern the outline of Arnside Tower.

As for the umbrella. Well thirty years ago I was important enough to be given this to escort VIP visitors over to lunch in Manchester's incessant rain. You can see its age in that the telephone number has been 0161 for very many years and there is no longer a switchboard with extensions. I suppose I should have handed it in when I retired but I don't think they will chase me for it.

My extra is a typical scene around here today. Mrs.K. gets a little cross with drivers who stop at the edge of these floods and the go forward at 2 m.p.h. getting water up their exhaust pipes. Her philosophy is to stay well back and then when there is nothing coming in the other direction to accelerate from 0 to 60 in ten seconds. It works.
