Migrant in Moscow

Iconic

Could he ever have imagined that his face might end up in so many places.  This one amidst a mix of neon lights and snow melt.

The image is often named among the 10 most iconic photographic images of modern times.  This is a very interesting article on Alberto Korda who shot the image, and how it came about (at a funeral service in Cuba in March 1960).

There's a twist to the tale:  Cuba never recognised the international convention on protection of rights to literary and artistic works, so neither Alberto nor Che's family have earned anything in royalties from the millions of times that the photograph has been reproduced.  I wonder if that might change now that Cuba is changing.
