Anna is Here

This is an Anna's Hummingbird. They over winter here in the Pacific Northwest and are now frequent visitors to our feeders. During the summer they pop in now and then for a drink but there are enough flowers and natural sources of nectar for them so we don't see too much of them. Now they come every day. This is the female. There are several and they sometimes battle for a chance to partake of the delicious nectar we supply.

Busy day today. I went to Gayle's condo in the midst of a wild storm to photograph her paintings. The wind was blowing and there was a waterfall of rain down the stairs to the entrance to her building. It was good to spend time with her and see how her work is coming along. She paints abstracts and I really love the direction she is moving.

After that I went to the Colophon Cafe for lunch to celebrate another artist friend, Carole. Her paintings of cats are in the restaurant and they look wonderful. It was good seeing some friends from the Thursday open studio whom I haven't seen for a long time.
