SCOTLAND AT ITS BEST

This is the start of our holiday to Orkney, back-blipped and has had to be written from bursts of memory, such a wonderful time we had, but without internet access. I thought I would at least keep a written journal up to date as the days passed but we were just too busy, and I was just too exhausted by the day's end.

We set off from home at 11am and arrived at the B&B in Inverness by about 6pm. The A9 was again a place of tragedy as two men in a white van were in a fatal accident a dozen or so cars ahead of us. The dust was still settling and people climbing down from the emergency exit of the coach which was also involved when we came to a halt.

We were in a subdued mood for some time after that but made a couple of successful birding stops further on for Ospreys and Slavonian Grebes.

Once in Inverness we went for a meal and then, in conversation with a man in a very smart kilt we ended up visiting a bar where the above band was playing. And so ended any intentions of an early night, but it was a hoot!
