Life in Sunny Dubai

Country Music Festival

This is Gs birthday weekend; so we headed first to church and then to what was billed as Dubai's first ever Country Music Festival! It took a while to get to it (Sheraton Jumeirah Beach) as the hotel seems to be tucked away in a remote part of Dubai Marina, but we got there in the end. Actually, in reality, this hotel was built in the mid-1990s before the Marina was even dreamt of; it's just the way they do the roads here.

The band playing were flown in from Texas and they entertained us nicely as we enjoyed an American style BBQ, and if we weren't so enjoying catching up with/getting to know Marja, we could have had a go at doing some line dancing!

We then headed to Global Village as a visit is needed to get a couple of presents before we go to Cyprus next Friday. We would normally never go on the weekend and today we were reminded why! It was BUSY and with a new layout for the year (only one entrance instead of 5 - what were they thinking??), they was more jostling to do for space than normal.

We visited Turkey, Yemen, Iran and Africa and that was more than enough. My feet were killing me! Marja thoroughly enjoyed it and bought stuff she needed; we got the two things we specifically went for... Lots more to explore on subsequent visits this season. Dropped M off home at the other end of town and helped her finish a bottle of Proseco she started on yesterday before finally getting home at 10:30. I need my bed!

My extra is of the new entrance to Global Village.
