A day in London

A belated birthday treat for me from my dear friend J. The four of us ventured up to London to visit the Queens Gallery at Buckingham Palace. The two exhibitions on at the moment are the satirical sketches of Thomas Rowlandson - J marvelled at the artwork, whereas I was fascinated by the bawdy humour of the 18th century. The other exhibition was 17th century Dutch artists. There were amazing pieces of art to gaze at. The detail is just fabulous.

Outside the palace we caught a taxi to our next destination, Sixty One restaurant, we were a little early so we frequented a local hostillery before returning to the restaurant and waited in the champagne bar before we were called to our table. The food was absolutely delicious (extra). We had a wonderful evening. A quick stop in Selfridges before catching the train home. A lovely, lovely day.

A little snow flurry in the morning cleared to leave a bright but very cold day. I pinched one of Rebecca's hats to keep my ears warm but they were very painful all day ;-/
