Persisting with Plan A, but with flexibility

When you live in Yorkshire it's not hard to find somewhere nice for a day out but today I thought it would be nice to do the Buttertubs Pass and lunch in Bainbridge.
Well the A 1 was closed (What!) so instead of heading straight up Swaledale it was via Ripon and Middleham.
Not a single tea shop open in Middleham so we had coffee and flapjack from the shop and enjoyed it in the car.
Back on the road we headed towards Richmond to pick up the road through Swaledale. Sign says the road is closed East of Gunnerside. And indeed it was but we found a single track road that acted as a detour and this is a picture from the top before we dropped back down into Muker.
The Buttertubs were fun but the pictures didn't do them justice. Lunch in a once great pub :-(. It was OK. Next time we take the Good Pub Guide.
And home via Aysgarth, Kettlewell and Skipton.
A grand day out.
