Common Scarlet Wax-cap

(Hygrocybe coccinea)

I've never seen any of these before. They're only tiny - about one inch across, and their gills and stems are as red as their caps. They really stood out in the grass on the headland. 

Here's a limerick to go with it. (Somewhat rhyme-led, but aren't they all?!) Exercises the old grey matter making 'em up!

"These wax-caps are common and scarlet;
Their gills and stems, too," announced Charlotte.
"Though none grew there last year,
There's lots in the pasture.
Each one-inch-wide toadstool's a starlet."
