A stroke of luck

Decided to go to the other place I can get to at lunchtime today.  As I was coming out of the car park with camera in hand, a dog walker asked if I was taking pictures because he had just seen a Heron.  He very kindly took me back to the spot where he had seen it so I could take some shots.

As he flew off (the heron not the dog walker) I thought I would try panning to get him in flight.  Partly successful !  I was trying to get the background blurred but it looks more out of focus than blurred in this shot, but at least the Heron is in focus and in the frame which is more than I've managed before when panning!
