Louise - Changing Natures

By louisemac

Skyping Sir Richard (as you do)...

Attended the World Forum on Natural Capital in Edinburgh today - over 500 delegates from 45 different countries discussing economic models and nature.

Lots of interesting input and discussions - and a highlight was the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon praising the work we do with young people around climate change as part of her keynote speech.

At the end of the day, the young leaders attending the event from across the globe then took part in a closed session with Sir Richard Branson, who Skyped in from his island Nassau. He took part in a Q&A about his approach and work around sustainability, but the thing I really liked was his desire to hear more from the participants - always asking them for their perspective or opinion on each of the questions they asked. I also loved his scale of ambition - so refreshing.

I remain conflicted about the whole ethos and concept of"Natural Capital" but I do feel I've got a much better understanding now of the different perspectives and why it has attracted such support. Head is spinning now though...
