Soaking it up

The Christmas cake has been getting a regular feed of brandy but is still pretty thirsty. Time for another top up I think. Don't suppose anyone'll complain.

Sticking with the baking theme, looks like I've finally managed to bake a crusty loaf. Despite my best efforts at skooshing or with pans of water in the oven, the crust always seems to soften as the bread cools. But tonight's effort might be the real thing; a buttered crust and cheese for supper would hit the spot!
