Arts and Craft Movement

Had a very interesting day out today organised by the Friends of Pallant House (the art gallery in Chichester).   In the morning we went round the Edward Barnsley Workshop near Petersfield where they make one-off pieces of furniture for private or public commissions.   Their work is quite beautiful and the above image is of a section of a walnut table.   After lunch we went on to Bedales School nearby and were shown round a couple of the buildings including the Memorial Library (see the extra).   This listed Arts & Crafts building was designed by Ernest Gimson but Edward Barnsley (an ex pupil of Bedales) assisted him with the building and furnishing of the Library.
