When I took a break from cooking to sit out back and shoot some photos of the birds, they scattered quickly.  Usually, they return within 5 minutes of me sitting there, but today I waited and they didn’t come back.  It was then that I saw the hawk, very high up  in a tall evergreen on the opposite side of my neighbor’s yard.  I nearly injured myself climbing through the bushes to get to the fence so I could get a shot.  Even so, this was taken from a significant distance and has been heavily cropped.  

Once he flew away, the birds did come back to the yard....but too bad, they had their chance, because I already had my blip and it was back to cooking for me.
