Aye Aye Skipper

I was running (not exactly) around this morning taking butterfly pictures. Now, three months ago that would not have been newsworthy but to have these flying beauties around as we fast approach Thanksgiving is unusual. The one I've chosen as my blip is a Long-tailed Skipper Urbanus proteus. When it opens it's wings it displays the most wonderful light blue, almost furry looking back. Here one dines on Penta nectar. This pretty little thing is considered a pest by farmers and some gardeners who call it the
"Bean-leaf Roller". It's species is very prolific here in Florida. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
