Packhorse Hut

A very hot day spent walking up the steep track from Kaituna Valley to Packhorse Hut.

Built of quarried volcanic stone in 1916, Packhorse Hut has recently been refurbished. It has nine bunks for walkers to sleep over.

This is the view from the hut over the head of Lyttelton Harbour and the Port Hills beyond.

In extras you can see the hut in its new colourful state.  There is a second photo of some of our group heading back down the track towards the beautiful Kaituna Valley.
