Q Train

This is 37706 fitted with scanners, lasers and 360 camera which will monitor every mm of track between Edinburgh and Tweedmouth for track renewal purposed. The man kneeling at the front of the loco is replacing the batteries for the scanners, you can see the lasers beams (the red lines) either side of him on the railheads. The two vertical tubes in the middle are for satellite communication to establish GPS co-ordinates. The loco had a portable headlight fitted as the main head light was obscured by the fitted equipment.
