Sir John

Sir John Monash. Australian civil engineer and military commander (he was at Gallipoli at the same time as my great grand-father though I suspect they moved in rather different circles).  

He's commemorated in lots of places in Australia - one being at Monash University. Which I'm told was the first Australian university to be named after a person rather than a place!
