Walking Off the Pie

We packed up some turkey sandwiches and went out for the day to meander some of the trails at the Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve. That's a mouthful of a name for a beautiful park with splendid views of the water, friendly paths through the oaks and grasses, and a chance to avoid all the shopping madness that seems to get worse every year. There were a few groups of people here and there, but mostly we felt we had the place to ourselves.

The Moss Landing power plant is visible across the slough. On a clear day you can see those towers from just about anywhere on our local coast.
