Donegal Lunatics Society outing!

Today was another of the South West Donegal Bird watching group’s days out, but given the weather forecast it might have been more apt to call it Donegal Lunatics Society outing. We headed to Rossnowlagh anyway. As it was raining starting at The Friary where we visited the smallest museum, I have ever been in County Donegal Historical Society Museum.
As it was still raining after that we went across to The Assisi Gallery
an Art Gallery & Tea Room, with yummy home baking, especially the Cinnamom & Caramel sponge cake.
I've just watched a TV clip  about how it came to be, very interesting & actually inspiring. They even use it for Pilates one day a week & run art classes.
We headed down a country road to the coast, to see if there were any birds visible, we did see Oyster Catchers, Mute Swan, Widgeon, Teal, and Lapwing.
The waves in Rossnowlagh were tremendous, some kite surfers were out making the most of it. It is a very popular surfers beach

The photo is of the Erne Estuary, during a dry spell, it was terribly windy & shortly after this there was a fierce hail storm. The hail stone edges were extremely sharp & sore as they beat against us.

Apart from that it was a very enjoyable day.
