Family Walk

Our son Duncan and his lovely fiancée Mei drove over from Nelson to stay with us this weekend. Early this morning Duncan, Mei and I drove to the Wither Hills Farm Park and went walking on the hills. The sun was shining but there was a cold easterly breeze blowing. The hills were popular this morning with lots of folk out walking and mountain bike riding. Later clouds blew up from the south east and covered the sky. It made a welcome change from the last few days of hot weather and strong nor-west gales. This respite in the weather has given fire-fighters the chance to get the recent drastic fires in the Waikakaho Valley under control. That is such a relief for everyone concerned. Here in Marlborough this November has been the driest on record..... We need rain desperately. Climate change is certainly with us. There have been many demonstrations today throughout New Zealand, if not the world, expressing the need of urgent action to tackle climate change.
