Learning to cook

Dinner out last night (hence the late post) with a twist.

We were supposed to be learning from sous chef Matt Walker how to prepare salmon tartar, veal geschnetzeltes in cream sauce with homemade spätzle and pears poached in red wine served with chocolate sauce.

The idea behind the evening was to watch and then copy the professional, whilst picking up clever life skills of how to skin salmon then dice it without losing any fingers, chop onions without wrecking mascara and more importantly what wine* to pair with pears (or possibly more important to me - how to actually make pears palatable & I have to report that simmering them in red wine for an hour or so certainly does the trick).

What the evening didn't take into account was that 8 women given a couple of glasses of wine and a man to do their bidding are more than happy to stand and watch, and then eat.
