A Blast from the Past

Borax (which is still available) is a really old laundry detergent. It has been around since 1890. It was originally called 20 Mule Team Borax because that was the size of the team that was used to haul the mineral/salt out of the deserts of the states of California and Nevada.

A lot of Americans remember it as the chief sponsor of an old show named Death Valley Days...on radio from 1930-1945, and on TV from 1952-1975. One of the last TV jobs that President-to-be Ronald Reagan had was being the host of the show.

In 1988, it was acquired by the Dial corporation.

There you have it...everything you always wanted to know about 20 Mule Team Borax.

You do have to admit...that the little cowgirl on the box...is cute.

This box of Borax has been in our basement for quite a while. After taking the picture, it has found its way to the trash receptacle.
