Mallachie

After breakfast we went up to Loch Garten to the Osprey Centre which, although closed for the winter, still maintains a large feeder full of peanuts outside the building. There was a red squirrel hogging the feeder when we arrived, so the coal tits were very keen to sample some peanuts. It was unalloyed pleasure to have them perching on our hands (see extra)

Then we walked through the pine forest to Loch Mallachie , of which I shall never tire. The smell of pine needles is with me still.
