Arise O'Africa

Hello from Uganda!!!
Decided what better time to start blipping again than when I'm 4,000 miles away and on this crazy adventure that is my gap year! Plus, I take so many photos a day would be a shame not to share atleast 1 a day!

Tuesday's are always busy days for us here. We get up early and cycle the 40 minutes to the juvenile detention center (JDC) in this insane heat (not my favourite part of the day to say the least!)

Today was bible study. We are working through the book of mark and today's topic was Jesus walking on water. We did dramas, games and a craft activity making pop up boats that would sail on the water. Ended in us asking those who wanted prayer to come up so we could pray for them, but so many came up that we had to go outside and instead went around in a circle, making a prayer tunnel saying what each person wanted prayer for. Was great to pray 'African style' (out loud and all at once) in both English and acholi (the broken parts that we know!)

A meeting with the supervisors, Rolex for lunch (comes from phrase roll-eggs: basically an omelette sandwiched with 2 chipattis) and bike ride later and we were home.

Tea just made; we're trying to be creative with the lack of ingredients and oven - just have 2 rings on what is basically a camping stove!). Today was rice, chicken and veg stuffed peppers. A success if I say so myself!!

Adding an extra of me admiring the sunset a bit more!
