Breath of fresh air

This is only about 30km from Jakarta, but life goes on here largely as it has for decades. Electricity only arrived to a certain part of a nearby village earlier this year. Terraced rice paddies make good photo subjects.

Fact of the day: coconut juice was used intravenously during wartime in the tropics, as it was one of the only sterile things around and must have similar properties to blood plasma!
