Watermark landmark

An £80 million extension to Southampton’s city centre West Quay shopping mall is rapidly taking shape.
It has been named the Watermark development and in the words of the developers is intended to create a vibrant new venue within the city centre and up to 1,200 new jobs in its construction and subsequent hospitality and operations.
It is taking shape on land which once housed the old Pirelli General cable factory, and which more recently has been derelict.
In the first phase currently under way are plans for up to 20 restaurants and cafes, a ten screen cinema and a new retail and leisure unit fronting Harbour Parade along with a public plaza in front of the city’s historic walls.

The second phase could include a residential tower, more restaurants, offices and a hotel with up to 250 bedrooms.
