The Cat's 20th Birthday

It's hard to believe that Bailey has made it to the ripe old age of 20! That's about 96 in human years.

When he was young, Bailey got in so many scrapes and mis-adventures, I never thought he'd make it to an advanced age. In his first six years, he scavenged and ate raw chicken from someone's rubbish, and got a nasty case of salmonella; he disappeared for six days and came home with a badly mangled leg; and he got trapped inside a neighbour's "cat-proof" fence and had to be rescued. Just for example.

Today, he was intrigued by his sparklers. And that's saying a lot, as these days, he's pretty blasé about practically everything, apart from food and catnip. (And that's when he's awake, which is only about 30 minutes a day.) But more than his sparklers, he enjoyed the little bits of tuna sprinkled on his cat food as a special birthday treat.

Now, he's sleeping off all the excitement.
