Tadcaster : High River

I popped to Tadcaster first thing this morning - recent rainfall has swollen the Wharfe and the river levels are very high.

The shops on the main street that leads up to the bridge all have sandbags along the front of them - as do the riverside houses. Obviously expecting the water to come over the tops of the levees  (if it hasn't already been over).

Despite that - I thought the scene looked quite nice in the morning sun - a nice warm glow. At the bottom of the picture is an 'island' of wood from trees washed down and trapped between the arches of the bridge.

I see the begging bowls are out for blipfuture - it seems to have got mixed reception. Timing is bad as everyone has the Ch*****as spendfest approaches and people will have less cash to splash.
