Frank Hannon

This gentleman, and I'm sure he was one, was given an obituary in the (Glasgow) Herald newspaper today. Remarkably, Frank was a Glasgow Corporation bus driver. I thought it was brilliant of the Herald to run an obituary for him. There is a story, of course. Frank took his Leyland Atlantean to Hamburg in 1974 to promote the city. (Glasgow, not Hamburg.)  First he had to work out how to get the double decker under Hamburg's low tram wires. Then he had to ferry the great and the good round the city. Apparently he was up at the crack of dawn each day making his bus lovely. Frank died at the age of 84 after 61 years of marriage. He never ventured abroad again.
