EBs all round

Emergency blips for everyone today.

This is Priscilla - I know it's her and not Elvis because she has a slightly damaged wing, which hangs down.  She can fly OK though and she needs to.  That nesting box you can see in the background houses her three offspring, and she and Elvis have been run ragged feeding them all.

The box is in such a position that our neighbour can see into it from the bedroom window and so have had a ringside seat of the kookaburras and their family.  Apparently Elvis brought a rat home to feed the kids the other day, and it took them quite a while to devour it.

I always make sure that I don't give them too much mince - it's not a balanced diet, but I feel so sorry for them.  They've both lost a lot of weight, and look like quite small birds now.  Such a difference from early this Spring when they were both in their prime.  Kookies don't normally have more than two to a brood, so the conditions must have been just right for them to get three.

I want to say something about Blip and some of the comments I've been reading on Blip Friends Facebook page.  These comments have been very disparaging towards Joe and his old team.

You know, hindsight is a wonderful thing, and it's really easy for an outside commentator to criticise certain things that may have gone on.  The only person who knows the whole story is Joe himself, and I'm absolutely certain that, given his time over again, he would have done things differently.  He would have made different decisions, perhaps not made the same mistakes.

But it's just not right to kick someone when they are down.  It's not fair to write hurtful things about people or their business practices when they have no right of reply.

We ought to be thanking Joe for having the insight to develop this fantastic community of ours.  And maybe remember that without Joe there would never have been a Blip.

I, for one, am grateful.  So thanks Joe.  I appreciate what you did for us.
