I marshalled at the Bewl 15 race today, a 15-mile round-the-reservoir run that has become one of the country's favourite events. Organised by the club I've been a member of since 1999 when there were 12 members and a dog. Now we have 100+ members and this race is our showcase. The weather was dramatic: rain, intense sun, wind, and those nasty bitey things that hang around reservoirs. Nevertheless, I ran 4 miles to my station at the end of the dam, shepherded 700+ runners through on their way, then ran back 4 miles to greet them at the finish line. Here's one of the event's unsung heroes, the photographer from Sussex Sports Photography charged with snapping every one of those runners passing before his lens....
