Sunset after a storm

Yesterday was one of the wettest days I have ever experienced.

Unfortunately our rain gauge is not set up at the moment because of the work  being done round the house so I don't have a precise measurement but the  the wettest I have recorded in recent years was 76mm in a day and I understand from others around here that they believe there was well over 100mm in 24 hours.

One rain gauge in the Lake District in England apparently recorded almost 350mm in 36 hours - two and a half times the average monthly rainfall.

Anyway we awoke to a few breaks in the cloud cover and although there have been some heavy showers today it has been relatively dry.  This evening the sunset across the loch behind the hills was beautiful if still a bit threatening.
