Sikh Temple

Glasgow Gurdwara Albert Drive serves the Sikh community as the first purpose built Gurdwara in Scotland. Situated in multicultural Pollokshields, the Gurdwara acts as a cultural, educational and religious hub for Sikhs and the wider community

I took this picture of it from the Secret Garden at the Tramway Arts Centre, where we had gone to view the candidates for the Turner Prize, which is hosted in Glasgow this year.

The Turner Prize, named after the English painter ,J.M.W. Turner is an annual prize presented to a British visual artist under the age of 50. Since its beginnings in 1984 it has become the United Kingdom's most publicised art award. The award represents all media.

As of 2004, the monetary award was established at £40,000.

There are four candidates for the award, and we were unimpressed by all of them; but what do we know?  The Tramway Centre is very interesting though, it is one of the old Tram Depots of which there were several in Glasgow, and it still has the tram lines running through it.  It is used as an arts centre and theatre nowadays.

Outside is the Secret Garden which must be very nice in the summertime, a bit bare at present though.

We had a nice sunny day but cold.
