Colca Canyon - Arequipa

Arequipa is a lovely cobble stoned town surround by some of the snow capped mountains of the Andes. The main reason people come here however is to do the Colca Canyon trek. We got back from the trek last night and are heading to Lake Titicaca, half of which is in Peru and half of which is in Bolivia, today.

The Colca Canyon was excellent and we enjoyed every minute of it. Even getting up at 4am yesterday morning to do the steep hike back up the canyon before the sun made it too hot. We saw giant condors on the first day as we descended the canyon and the spectacular scenery took centre stage from then on.

We had a great group with Aranxtcha from Andorra, Alex from Germany, Marco from Chile, and Charles and Charlotte from Quebec in Canada, as well as our great guide David from Peru. It wasn't too challenging but the scenery and views were spectacular and we had so much fun. To top it all off, we stopped at some natural hot springs on the way back to Arequipa to help soothe the muscles.
