If you can't beat them...

The day after the night before!

When we went to bed the water in the garden was falling having been within about an inch of coming in.  The tide mark this morning showed it had risen again and had been literally about 1/4 inch away from coming over the threshold.  Fortunately we didn't know!  The garden has slowly been drying out all day and was declared empty at about 9:45 this evening.

In the morning we had a wander round the estate taking record photos and retrieving our dustbin from 100 yards away.  As a break from watching the water creep down a millimeter at t a time we braved the roads to go to town for a quick shop and cal at Rheged for the Lake Artists Society Winter Exhibition.  Amazingly we hardly came across a puddle once out of the village and yet our garden water was half way up our wellies.

We also popped in to see J who is having a "popup shop" there all week and has some of CC's photos.  This shot shows the indoor Helter Skelter that had been set up beside the pop up shops.  It fills the full height of the 3 storey space.
