Out for the Count

Fired with enthusiasm and inspiration from the weekend's conference, I went out to do one of the surveys I've signed up for. It involves monitoring birds, plants and butterflies on a local recreation ground - not a very inspiring place, but it the Local Authority have designated it an Urban Nature Park and received funding for planting trees. I thought I'd do a quick bird survey and was pleasantly surprised by the diversity of birds. I counted 12 species, the most numerous being Blackbirds (14+), and the star species being Treecreeper.
This sign is new since I did the last of my butterfly counts
