After the flooding*

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who's left kind comments & offers of support & just good vibes - I'm sorry I've been absent from your journals - but your kind words have been lovely to read.

We're fine - decamped into the spare room which survived - the main bedroom is stripped & drying out - we've even bravely switched the underfloor heating back on.  We're lucky to have power & heating & food in the house (many supermarkets have run empty as deliveries can't get through) - there are many folks out there in much worse condition - not the start to a festive season anyone would want. Tomorrow we're going to take some Christmas presents to the Town Hall in Kendal - and count our blessings.

*So this tree was fine yesterday - and for the most part today has been a good day - but as I was piling up sodden carpet in the yard I heard a huge groaning and then the unmistakable sound of a tree coming down - fortunately a goodly way from any houses.
