The importance of a home

The art project "House of Commons" in front of the Parliament - revisited today together with a whole lot of other people.

The Norwegian artist Marianne Heske got permission to move this 150 old house from it's original location to the center of power. The last family living in the house moved out 1964.

The original idea was to create a stark contrast between daily life for ordinary people without power and the building that represent the biggest power in the country.  She also wanted to show the contrast between life in Norway before and after we became an oil nation.

But with the huge amount of refugees fleeing from war, the house has also become a symbol for the significance of a home, of loosing a home, the importance of having a home...
