SIGNS

Drench

Watched "The Imitation Game" with one of my friends at a university theatre. So much enjoyed.

The origin of this word goes back to a form in Old English, the meanings of which were 'force to drink' as a verb and 'a drink' as a noun, obviously concerned with the act of drinking. Find it hard to guess such an origin from its present usages, but somehow it makes sense once I know it.

These days I'm kind of hooked on looking at origins of words.
